Everything is a little interesting

We landed in London town yesterday about 14:00 London time and that would be about 8am Oklahoma time!  After going through many questions at the border and almost not getting in, we passed and waited on our luggage! Gary was waiting there with a sign that said Stephanie and Kathryn...ok so he didn't have a sign but he had us an underground day pass so we could get home!

The travel to the apartment was an event within itself! Stephanie and I had HUGE luggage on crowded trains...let us just say it was so good to have Gary...and Gary is in very good shape! The main thing I noticed was the exit signs said "way out" instead of "exit"! That is a little interesting!

We had burritos last night for dinner! It was like Freebirds! Really good!! We also bought new shampoo and a hair dryer!

Now we are having our first English Tea that I made and Stephanie is getting ready. We have taken it really easy today, just trying to get used to the time change and catch up on our sleep!

Gary's apartment is sooooo nice!! We could not have hoped for a better set up. The bathroom is ginormous! There's a washer/dryer in the kitchen, literally hidden in the cabinet next to the silverware. Gary says the dryer doesn't work very well, but as long as it cleans our clothes, we don't really care. The pull-out couch is very cozy, and we can watch terrible British television as much as we want! When we first arrived a "Friends" episode was playing, which made us feel right at home. Gary says they play a good movie every now and then as well.

I (Stephanie) had some touble with the shower. First off, there is no button for the stopper. You simply have to take it out. AND the shower and tub are two separate entities. One faucet turns on the shower, and another turns on the tub. If you turn on both, you will run out of hot water very quickly. I will not make that mistake again.

Next step is grocery shopping at Waitros, London's version of Target, in our opinion. This will be the first trek on our own. Fortunately, it's just a short train ride away, so hopefully we won't have too much trouble. We plan on making Gary and his co-worker Matt a nice dinner for welcoming us with good ol' American hospitality.

So far, our encounters with the locals has not been very friendly. But it's only our second day, so we're hoping that might change. Everyone's in such a rush. I guess the difference is, we have our cars to rush around, whereas they rely on their feet. You can curse and be angry in your car and no one is the wiser. Not here! Maybe everyone will be happier once the weekend hits. But for now, they all seem pretty grumpy. Katie and I do not really fit in. We'll TRY to keep the laughing and smiling to a minimum.

We will post pictures of the apartment and whatever good foods we end up making for dinner this evening. Until then, thanks for following us here at Dear Europe...
