Are you all right, sir?

We're a bit behind on our blogging, so we will do two separate segments to tell you about the past couple days of fun. On Saturday, we made our usual of eggs and toast for breakfast. I went back to sleep for about an hour. It's Saturday! You're supposed to sleep in... Anyway, once everyone was ready to go out and about we headed to lunch. Since the weather has turned somewhat colder, nothing sounded better than a cup of soup. So we went to this cafe in the mall called Pret~A~Manger (I believe that's the correct spelling). Katie calls it a fancy 7 Eleven. They serve fresh sandwiches, sushi, soup, and coffees. Katie and I shared a chicken and avocado sandwich and she ordered the chicken and mushroom soup. I ordered miso (a Japanese soup) that was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend it if you're ever in London.

After a hot meal, we were ready to head to the Tate Museum of Modern Art. It was...modern. There were a few works by Picasso and an Andy Warhol collection, but other than that, nothing really stood out. I guess I should've attended my History of Art class more often. But the highlight of the day, by far, is when Matt's keen art sense enlightened us all. At one point he was standing in a dark corner staring into the abstract abyss. However, it turns out the dark corner was really......a dark corner. People kept walking by the same spot, then try and see what he was looking at, and then realize that there was nothing there. Some artsy fellows would even nod and hold their chins with appreciation for the "dark piece". It got to the point where people started laughing and finally one of the museum guards walked over and asked him, in a British accent, "Are you all right, sir?" Matt played it cool, said he was fine, and that was the end of it. We can't stop laughing about it. Even now, I am cracking up at the whole scene. That guy probably thought we were stupid Americans, but it was nice to have a good laugh with everything as serious as it is around here.

After our cultural experience at the museum, we headed to the London Tower Bridge. At this point in the day it was getting darker and colder outside, and our stomachs were starting to growl. But we pressed on, intent on seeing the famous landmark. So we got there, walked over it, (it was too dark to take any good pictures), and ran to find some good food. We ended up at Wagamama Noodle Bar. It was fantastic! Everyone was good to head home and hit the hay with our pleased palates.

It was a quiet train ride home, aside from the usual, "Are you all right, sir?" Our feet were tired and we were ready to kick back and watch True Grit on Matt's computer. All in all, it was a good day and certainly one to remember.

This is not a toy.
